Pairs is another popular dating app on Facebook in Japan. It was launched pretty recently but it has already become one of the largest dating apps on Facebook in Japan with more than 450,000 members (as of Jan 2014). The website is well designed and easy to use. You log in with your Facebook account and create an anonymous profile for online dating.
It’s system and contents are almost identical to Omiai (see article on Omiai here). The only difference is that Pairs has communities you can join and the total number of likes you have received will be disclosed to other members. Also, so far I don’t think there is an English version.
Even if there is no English version, the profile settings are exactly the same as Omiai, so if you have a Omiai account then you can just copy that information. None of your activities on Pairs will be shared back to your Facebook account or timeline. Your Pairs profile will also be invisible to your friends on Facebook.
The service is completely free for female members. Male members can create a profile for free but must pay a monthly fee to send likes and messages. On some dating sites in Japan, guys complain that girls are not posting their photos. But in Pairs everyone posts at least one photo (if not more) so it might be more fun to browse :)
Most of the people on this app seem real and sincere, looking for a serious relationship and love.
Have fun and good luck!
